Xander at 1 month

I can't believe a month has gone by already. Xander has change immensely over the past month. My son is already an over achiever at one month. We went to the pediatrician for a checkup this past week. Xander weighed 11 lbs and is 22 inches tall. He is in the 90% for both.

Xander @ 1 month
Xander's first bottle. He slept for 3.5 hours after finishing. Needless to say we made the bottle a bedtime routine. Jude and Xander both enjoy it.

Xander has started to smile on purpose. I think my son is getting more adorable with age. :)

Xander's favorite sleep spot is in somebody's arms or cuddled in the boppy pillow. He looks like an angel, right?
Things are definitely improving with time. Xander is starting to sleep 2.5-3.5 hour spans at night. I am also better in tune with his needs and wants. I am enjoying every minute with him and looking forward to the many months ahead.

Xander's Photo Shoot

Mom and I had a photo shoot for Xander. I needed a picture for his birth announcement. These are some of the photos taken. I think he is adorable, but I could be biased.
We are going to the pediatrician on Wednesday for his one month check up. Will have an update after the appointment.

Xander's First Week

I can't believe it has already been a week. Time flys!!! I have a whole new respect for mothers. This week has been tough. Xander seems to have his days and nights confused. He also likes to eat every hour even at night, which makes sleeping nearly impossible. These next two pictures sums up how we felt this week. No matter how hard, Jude and I are both enjoying our son immensely.

We took Xander to the pediatrician for a check up on Wednesday. Xander received a clean bill of health. He also weighed in at 8lb 5oz, 3 oz over his birth weight. I think Xander will be a big boy like his daddy. He still measure 20 3/4 inches long. Our next appointment will be at one month.

We even managed to give Xander his first bath. He did not like it at all. Hopefully that will change once he is older.

Xander had plenty of visitors this week. He got to meet his new family. His cousins are especially excited to have him. We appreciate all the visits and support this week. It has been a lot of help. Here are some pictures of Xander and family.
This is my favorite picture thus far. I am sure he is not really smiling, but has gas. It is still cute!

More Pictures of Xander

Too cute, if I must say so!

It's a Boy!!!

Alexander Samuel Voltz was born 5/15/09 at 3:42am. 8lb 2oz, 203/4"

The story:
I went in to be induced Thursday, 5/14, at 2pm. The doctor broke my water at 3pm and started pitocin. By 7pm I had only progessed to 3cm and the baby's heart dipped down to the 70s with the contrations. The pitocin was stopped and I tried to labor on my own. Unfortunately after several hours I was unable to progress passed 4cm and the baby was no tolerating labor. The baby continued to have heart decelerations with each contraction. The decision was made to perform a c-section. The surgery began around 315am. At 342am the doctor announced it was a boy. I cannot explained to you the excitement Jude and I felt. We were thrilled. Finally, our baby arrived and it was a boy.
Jude and I decided on Alexander Samuel just last week as a name. Jude chose Alexander and would like to call him "Xander." Samuel was a Voltz family name. I think the name suits him well.
We are already at home on Sunday. I am feeling good, but sore around the incision. The baby is doing great. He got a clean bill of health from the pediatrician. So far we are all hanging in there, but I am sure the adrenaline will run out soon. Here are some pictures of our little man.
Eyes wide open.

Xander has the biggest feet I have ever seen. I don't know if the picture does him justice.

The Stats

The new family

Stayed tuned for more pitcures to follow in the next couple days. Thanks to everyone for all the support throughout pregnancy and now.

41 Weeks Progression

Who would have ever though I would last 41 weeks. I know I didn't! Well today is the day. Jude and I are heading to the hospital for 2pm to be induced. I am so nervous and excited. This is a thousand times worse then your wedding day. Jude and I are going to lunch for our last meal as just a couple.
Wish me luck. I will keep you posted.

Last Pregnant Doctor's Visit

Today Jude and I went to the doctor. We started the day by going to fetal monitoring. A nonstress test and measurement of fluid was completed. The baby is healthy and shows no signs of distress. I had a couple of contractions while on the monitor, but nothing to start labor. :( The baby obviously is nice and comfy in the womb and does not want to come out.
Next we had the actual doctor's appointment. I have progressed to 1.5cm - 2cm dilated and 100% effaced. Whoo-hoo! We discussed induction options with the doctor. Unfortunately the soonest we can be scheduled for an induciton is Thursday at 2pm. The doctor suggested some home remedies to initiate labor. Jude and I will try them all, because he is just as anxious to meet Baby Voltz as I am. If we are not successful initiating labor, we will have our bundle of joy Thursday a week late.
